DESCRIPTION + iMeem is everything MySpace aspires to be, without the user base, hype
or mass popularity. But the more I dig into iMeem, the more I dig it.
It has the requisite profile, photos section, blog and privacy
controls. It also lets you login to multiple IM accounts and use their
interface for chatting, and you can use it as a P2P filesharing network
(by downloading a desktop app), organize your photos into sections,
share your music playlists, have multiple blogs, AND tag all your
content a-la Flickr. The interface is really slick, and the whole thing
is chock full of features but seems really easy to use. No, you can't
personalize the look and feel, or add music and videos that auto-play,
like you can with MySpace - but is that such a bad thing?

DESCRIPTION + The new video for Brighton, England’s best-known electropop band, Metronomy, turns karaoke into a contact sport. At first, at least, “A Thing for Me” looks like any other karaoke video: the kind with a bouncing ball that helps you follow the lyrics. But it isn’t long before this ball bounces through the screen and inflicts maximum damage on the band members (and their lady friends). The French creative team Megaforce directs, and Michele Gondry is an obvious influence, but the ending — a panicked dash through an open field, with dangerous objects coming out of the skies above — will remind you of Hitchcock’s The Birds.
